ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Participates as a consultant in the intervention and pre-referral process to generate and support interventions, accommodations, and modification in regular education.
  2. Screen and evaluate students’ physical, perceptual motor and sensorimotor, developmental, and self-help functioning skills based on formal and informal evaluation.
  3. Determines the evaluation information to be collected, administers assessments, analyzes and interprets information for parents, the IEP team, and instructional staff.
  4. Writes appropriate reports and recommendations.
  5. Writes appropriate goals and objectives
  6. Develops and coordinates appropriate treatment plans for students.
  7. Develops schedule and provides therapy for students who have deficits in physical, perceptual motor, and or sensorimotor functions.
  8. Collaborates with and trains family members, teachers and assistants in specific therapy techniques utilized for students in the classroom.
  9. Identify student’s needs for adaptive equipment and/or devices.
  10. Determine occupational therapy equipment and supply needs, completes purchase requests for equipment and supplies as appropriate, and maintains inventory of occupational therapy equipment and supplies.
  11. Evaluate individual student progress in therapy programs on a regular basis, communicating findings to teachers, parents, and others involved through direct consultation or written reports.
  12. Complete quarterly, annual and other reports formally requested by the Director of Special Education.
  13. Maintains and submits thorough and ongoing records for individual students receiving services and service logs and required documentation for Medicaid billing program.
  14. Maintains compliance with federal/state statutes and district policies/procedures.
  15. Maintains awareness of current advancements/developments in the profession through attendance at professional conferences, workshops, and in-service training programs.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and lift and carry up to 25 pounds, or help in a team lift a school-aged student of typical size and weight. The employee is required to move about the school or travel between schools in the District. 

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Duties may require employee to be exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat or cold, wind and rain. High humidity and/or dusty conditions may also be present.
