Description | Position Goal
The Campus Security personnel will identify potential problems regarding welfare, safety, and/or security of students, personnel, visitors, and/or site; maintaining safety at school site by enforcing disciplinary policies and regulations; communicating information and responding to inquires; and providing emergency care to students and other individuals.

High School Diploma or GED required

Minimum two years of work experience in security, law enforcement, or military police preferred

Courses in criminal justice or police administration highly desirable

Must be able to adhere to safety practices

Ability to utilize job related equipment and operate equipment using defined methods

Knowledge of security and safety techniques, including search and seizure laws and procedures
-
Understanding and recognizing behavioral indicators of persons who may have drug and/or alcohol abuse problems, or who may be participating in gang-related activities

Must be able to prepare and maintain accurate records, perform basic math, read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others

Problem solving skills required to identify issues and create action plans

Must be able to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions
- Must be able to establish and maintain an appropriate level of authority and develop a rapport with students
- Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances and ability to work with a diverse population
- Must possess or be eligible for Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within 30 days of hire
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Maintain appropriate safety practices and ensure that Governing Board Policies related to security, safety, and conduct are followed.

Administer first aid for the purpose of providing immediate emergency medical care.

Assist community law enforcement personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities within the school environment.

Collaborate with other agencies (e.g., law enforcement, community professionals, etc.) for the purpose of communicating and/or receiving information regarding situations that may affect safety within the school environment.

Communicate school policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel, and visitors.

Detain individuals suspected of engaging in illegal activities for the purpose of apprehending suspects and preventing further illegal activities.
- Escort assigned personnel and/or documents (e.g., employees, visitors, bank deposits, etc.) for the purpose of providing direction, ensuring safety and providing security for persons and/or sensitive information.

Investigate potential campus crimes and/or student related incidents for the purpose of resolving conflicts and/or referring to outside agency for resolution.

Patrol school facilities (e.g., grounds, roads, buildings, adjacent areas, etc.) for the purpose of providing administrative visibility, maintaining security, and deterring crime.

Prepare documentation (e.g., incident and activity reports, security logs, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.

Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.

Testify in court proceedings and school administrative actions for the purpose of providing information and documenting of illegal activity.

Assist other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time, as well as to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
