Position Goal

The paraprofessional will support the site Principal and classroom teachers to ensure that the curriculum and school programs are implemented in a way to maximize student learning experiences. They will help with the overall supervision of the campus as asked for by all employees.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a 2-year college degree (AA from an accredited institution), 60 credits toward a 4-year degree or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, students and the public.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret educational documents.

  3. At CCS, the para pro will assist teachers in the Edgenuity Lab and assist teachers who are at CMS/CHS
    who are providing classwork through digital/distance learning for the Alternative to Suspension
    Program.
  4. The Para pro may help students access the teacher’s Google classroom or print out lessons for the
    student from teachers at CMS/CHS.
  5. Instruct students within assigned area.
  6. Administer tests, homework, make-up work, etc. for supporting teachers in the classroom.
    Assessments, homework, projects and packets are inter-office mailed back to the instructor at CMS/CHS
    for grading.
  7. Provide assistance or direct instruction based on identified student needs in collaboration with the
    classroom teacher. The Para pro can set up help with the Core Teacher for tutoring.
  8. Promote and maintain confidentiality regarding records and documentation.
  9. Work as a team member to implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality
    student performance in both academic and social behavior based on students’ prior knowledge and
    experience.
  10. Adapt curriculum as a member of a collaborative team to meet the needs of the students.
  11. Assess learning outcomes in collaboration with the classroom teacher, using various methods to monitor
    the effectiveness of teaching strategies.
  12. Participate in weekly PLC meetings to share and discuss student progress.
  13. Assist with the following record keeping: daily attendance and student logs regarding skills addressed,
    lesson plans and notes, parent communication logs.
  14. Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. rest rooms,
    playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, on field trips, cafeteria, parking lots, etc.) for maintaining a
    safe and positive learning environment.
  15. Assist educational staff with other duties as assigned, including but not limited to: monitoring student
    testing on computers, copying or printing class materials, monitoring passing periods, assisting principal
    with getting students to class in a safe and efficient manner
  16. Promote and maintain confidentiality regarding records and documentation.
  17. Work as a team member to implement strategies, activities and techniques for promoting quality student performance in both academic and social behavior based on students’ prior knowledge and experience.
  18. Maintain CPR and first aid certifications.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary Schedule:    Support Staff Initial Salary Placement Range 103

Hours:            30-35 weekly
