Description

Position Goal: While under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Teacher will provide sound and consistent instruction to students, modifying curriculum as needed, to support academic growth that enables each student to reach their full potential. This position requires the instructor to work on-site eight hours daily and is funded for one year. 



Essential duties and Responsibilities:  

  1. Supports the Mission, Vision and Goals of J.O. Combs Unified School District
  2. Promotes and follows the adopted school district philosophy, policies, regulations, and administrative procedures 
  3. Utilizes a variety of effective online instructional and management techniques, including blended learning, personalized learning, small group/whole class/one-on-one instruction
  4. Considers individual student learning needs and abilities of students, as well as program and district learning goals, in preparation and utilization of lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessment documents.
  5. Utilizes district-adopted resources nad curriculum guides in instructional planning and implementation
  6. Augments course content in the form of remediation, differentiation, and enrichment
  7. Uses available technology or instructional media to enhance a students’ learning experience
  8. Models and monitors digital citizenship, including academic integrity
  9. Determines the appropriate balance of synchronous and asynchronous learning opportunities based on student strengths and needs
  10. Continuously and accurately collects student achievement data using a variety of tools (e.g., tests, projects, demonstrations, checklist) and uses this information to diagnose, instruct and evaluate specific student needs to positively impact student achievement
  11. Helps students learn self-regulation skills by modeling how to review progress using tools available in the learning management system
  12. Establishes, supports and administers a positive and safe classroom environment using standard operating procedures and norms
  13. Establishes positive and appropriate relationships with students and maintains open lines of communication using a variety of strategies (phone calls, web conferences, in person conferences, e-mail, virtual lab/office hours) with students and parents concerning academic and behavioral progress
  14. Evaluates student performance on a regular basis and provides feedback to students and parents
  15. Works with parents and school personnel representatives to provide an appropriate education for each student
  16. Produces, utilizes, and maintain student records that relate to student achievement, attendance and discipline
  17. Takes an active role in establishing and supporting school goals and resolving school concerns
  18. Communicates an expectation of success for all students 
  19. Participates on IEP/504 teams for students with special needs and implements and monitors IEP/504 goal progress
  20. Supports students and parents with the set-up and maintenance of their learning environment including basic computer troubleshooting and technical support requests relating to the course interface and student information system
  21. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with state testing programs
  22. Other duties as assigned

  • Valid State of Arizona Teaching Certification and fingerprint clearance card 
  • Meets all certification requirements for the assigned grade level or subject area including proper teaching area endorsements to be Appropriately Certified 
  • Knowledge of Arizona College and Career Ready State Standards
  • Ability to assess student needs through academic assessments
  • Skill in both oral and written communication
  • Ability to collaborate and work in teams
  • Knowledge of classroom-based assessments to drive instruction
  • Skill in using computers, VIA, and other equipment and materials to supplement instructional presentation
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, administration and the community

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to move about the classroom and campus and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to feel objects, tools, controls and to reach with hands and arms, bend stoop, kneel and crouch and occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary Schedule: Certified Initial Salary Placement

Benefits: As per District policy

Evaluation: Annual

Contract: 10 months, 200 days

Hours:  40 per Week
