Position Goal The HVAC Lead Technician II works under the supervision of the Director of Support Services to ensure the timely operation, maintenance, trouble-shooting, and repair of District heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems and equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Supervise HVAC Technicians and Apprentices. 2. Develop competencies to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair refrigeration and air conditioning units, evaporative coolers, boilers, forced air furnace units, and associated distribution and control systems. 3. Establish and maintain records for materials and parts required to complete work orders and construction projects. 4. Monitor and oversee/distribute work orders and parts orders assigned to Technicians/Apprentices 5. Estimate labor and material costs associated with internal projects

6. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. 7. Troubleshoot refrigeration, electrical, pneumatic control and energy management control systems, air handlers, boilers, forced air furnaces, and computerized timing systems. 8. Troubleshoot refrigerated kitchen equipment and water fountains. 9. Calibrate programmable logic controllers and pneumatic control devices. 10. Perform seasonal changeover from heating to cooling, cooling to heating. 11. Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on boilers, refrigeration units, and related equipment. 12. Maintain EPA refrigerant logs. 13. Determine method of repair and materials needed within established expenditure limits. Initiate purchase requisitions as needed. 14. Properly dispose of hazardous and refrigerant waste materials. 15. Communicate with Director of Support Services and school site-based personnel to keep them properly informed of system status. 16. Perform duties relating to other job functions as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
