Position Goal

The Playground Aide will administer safety rules with students and make sure they are following all school guidelines and rules.  Act as mediator when needed to de-escalate issues between students.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Demonstrate professionalism in attitude and demeanor.
• Positive, effective communication skills in dealing with students, employees, parents and the community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Employee supervises students on the playground, in the cafeteria, and in other areas as assigned.
2. In addition, employee encourages student activities that will contribute toward the health, safety, and desirable social skills and habits of the students while on the school playground, during the lunch period, and at other assigned times and locations.
3. Employee will also fulfill other related duties as required or assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. The employee is frequently required to sit. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Duties may require employee to be exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme heat or cold, wind and rain. High humidity and/or dusty conditions may also be present.
